Edward Harrelson

Edward Harrelson is a native of Garner, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in History. His law degree is from the University of North Carolina School of Law. After law school, he moved to the mountains and began his law practice in Hendersonville. In 2002 he was asked by Francis M. Coiner to take over his practice. Mr. Coiner had practiced actively in Hendersonville from 1951 to 2003, and was a much loved and well-respected attorney. Edward considers it an honor to keep Mr. Coiner’s name associated with this law firm.  Since 1997 Mr. Harrelson has focused mostly on real property transactions, estate planning and probate law and small business representation.

Edward was taught from an early age to volunteer his time and energy for the benefit of others and his community. He has served on numerous boards over the years, including service as an Elder in his church, with United Way of Henderson County for six years, with Daniel Boone Council (BSA) for six years, and as a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board since 1995. In 2009, he was accepted for membership in the Hendersonville Rotary Club. In 2012, Edward was elected to serve as a Trustee of the Flat Rock Play House, and he serves as Secretary to that Board. Edward credits his Boy Scouting experience and the earning of the Eagle Scout award for much of his continuing dedication to service to others.

In 2018, Edward and his wife, Petra, celebrated 25 years of marriage. They stay actively engaged raising their two sons. They attend Tryon Presbyterian Church and go to numerous Scouting and youth sporting activities. Edward and Petra have hosted several German exchange students in their home over the years.  Edward and other members of the family enjoy acting, usually in Tryon Little Theater productions. Edward is an active equestrian. His main hobbies include Revolutionary War living history (he portrays a cavalry trooper of the Third Continental Light Dragoons at re-enactments), as well as World War II living history with the Thirteenth Infantry Division. He enjoys reading about history in general and military history in particular.
